Alexander Pavlovich Atsmanchuk (1923 - 1973)

Born in Odessa in 1923. Studied at the Odessa Art College; Repin Art Institute in Leningrad 1947-53. Member of the Artists Union of Ukraine. Active in Odessa. Taught at Odessa Art College 1953-57.

Well-known works include "The Order Has Been Given" (1957, Kiev, Ukrainian National Museum of Art). His paintings hang in the most prestigious national and international museums and in private collections at home and worldwide.

Atsmanchuk's works were always expressing his philosophical reflections on life and one's place in it. They were imbued with romantic attitude towards life and history. Atsmanchuk was a recognized authority among his fellow artists and had a great influence on the Odessa artistic life in the years 1960-1970.
