Nikolai Petrovich Glushchenko
Born in Novomoskovsk, Ekaterinoslav pr. (Ukraine), in 1901. Studied at Academy of Arts (or Higher School of Visula Arts?), Berlin, 1919 (20?)-24(25?). Active in Germany 1918-25 (after capture by Germans in World War I); Paris 1925-36(35?); Moscow 1936-44; Kiev, Ukraine from 1944. Began exhibiting in 1927. Exhibited with ARMU 1927. Important shows include "Industry of Socialism" , Moscow, 1939; "All-Union Art Exhibition", Moscow, 1947; "All-Union Art Exhibition", Moscow, 1950. Awarded titel "People's Artist of the USSR" (1977). Exhibited with Neue Sachlichkeit group, Berlin, 1924; took Soviet citizenship 1923 and painted revolutionary subject while in France 1920-30s; joined ARMU 1927. Died in Kiev 1977.
